Feature Coffees

If you stop by Red Rocket on the regular, you might have noticed that we've changed up our feature coffees a bit. We think, for the better! We are now moving to a monthly feature medium blend coffee, allowing our customers to really have a chance to enjoy each feature before we switch it up.

We started the year with the Papua New Guinean "Tribal AA" coffee - a new coffee by Reunion Island. Acidic and fruity, it is a coffee that really wakes you up. While we no longer brew it daily, there are still a few bags left on our retail shelf. Grab them before they're gone!

Currently we are brewing Honduras "Finca la Montanita," Reunion Island's newest direct trade coffee. With notes of raisin, chocolate, and toasted walnut, this medium roast coffee is definitely worth a taste.

No matter what feature coffee we are brewing, we will always have plenty of choices on our shelves for you to take home and brew yourselves. Currently we have six different feature coffees available, as well as our signature light and dark roasts, and of course espresso! Every bag is $13.95, and don't forget - they come with a free small coffee just for you!

Please note: our two locations sometimes switch things up a bit. These are the coffees currently available at our Danforth location - you might get a different blend at our Wellesley location, but we promise you will love it just as much :)

What's Happening at Red Rocket Danforth?

Chase away those winter blues at the Rocket!

Every Saturday night is Comedy Night.  Join us at 8:00 for some great comedy, free of charge!  A new lineup every week, hosted by the wonderful Joel West (distant cousin of Adam West?).

January 17 is Makin' a Racket at the Rocket, a spoken word and poetry event on the third Friday of every month.  Open Minds Toronto presents poets, authors, and even has an open mic segment, so come with some something to share! Next week's Racket will feature Ronna Bloom and Lisa De Nikolitis.

And not to be missed, the amazing and talented Kevin Brathwaite busts out a soulful funk performance once a month - this month's date to be announced soon.

And don't forget to swing by tonight, January 10th in for games night!
Provided by the excellent Matthew, there will be lots of games to try out...
so bring the kids, bring a date, or come by yourself and make some new friends!

Holiday Hours

We know how stressful the holidays can be, and we know how much coffee helps. Don't have time to make breakfast before all your Christmas shopping? Our scones are here for you. Don't have the energy to make your own Christmas cookies? Grab a jar of Kourambiedes and pretend you made them yourself - we promise, we won't tell.

For your convenience, both Red Rocket locations will be open Christmas Eve and Boxing Day from 8 am to 2 pm, and New Years Eve from 7 am to 4 pm. We will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day. So grab yourself a bag of our delicious holiday blend coffee to get you through those days at home! :)

Merry Christmas!

Christmastime at Red Rocket

With the start of December comes a whole slew of new products!

First up is our famous shortbread:

Available immediately for $1 each, in chocolate, vanilla, or butter pecan! Keep your eyes open soon for the 12 Days of Shortbread, starting on December 13th. A new flavour of shortbread every day, for one day only - including great flavours like apricot chai and candy cane.

You can also try our winter feature drinks - the delicious peppermint mocha or the pleasantly pink rasperry white mocha.

Last but not least: if you're looking to get a warm feeling as well as a warm drink, consider donating to Project Hope for Greece. From Project Hope for Greece's website:

Responding to the deteriorating conditions in Greece, the Greek America Foundation is launching a new initiative entitled PROJECT HOPE FOR GREECE, a nation-wide fundraising effort that will support a wide range of important institutions in Greece that are responding to the crisis in substantive and systematic ways and working to solve important problems for the people of Greece.
The project’s purpose is to inspire philanthropy amongst Greek North Americans and to engage our network of friends and supporters to come together on a grassroots level and host a series of small events throughout North America that will raise funds for the campaign, whose proceeds will be shared with various accredited charitable organizations in Greece.

In honour of our owners Billy and Liako's Greek heritage, Red Rocket will be accepting donations for Project Hope for Greece (PHFG) in two ways.

  1. Donate $1 to put an ornament on our christmas tree mural with your name on it.
  2. Purchase a jar of Kourambiedes, a Greek holiday almond shortbread, available in three sizes: $10 for 10 (with $1 going to PHFG), $18 for 18 (with $3 going to PHFG), or $32 for 32 (with $5 going to PHFG).

As you can see, there is a lot going on at Red Rocket this month! Keep your eyes peeled for another blog post soon about all of our regular and upcoming events.

Oh and since we still have time - happy Hannukah! :)

Movember

If you've been in either Red Rocket location in the last week you've probably noticed the posters and signs all over: it's Movember! If you're not familiar with Movember, it is a charitable organization aimed at men's health - and it's done by growing moustaches!

There are two ways you can support Movember through Red Rocket:

1. Donate when you make a purchase. Just tell your barista how much you would like to donate! Whether is it is 5 cents or 50 dollars, everything helps. From these donations, 100% goes to Movember.

2. Buy a bag of salty nuts. Pun totally intended, you can purchase a bag of mixed nuts for $2.50 at either location and $1 from every bag goes to Movember!

You can also, of course, sign up on the Movember website to raise money yourself, and then come by and show us your epic moustaches. We like that too.
